Tips for Making your senior Portrait the BEST.

Get plenty of rest the night before your portrait session.
If you have a late night, your eyes will show it. Redness in your eyes can be removed with retouching, but costs extra.

Don't try a new hairstyle.
and don't have a fresh cut. "Testing" a new style usually results in the person wanting a remake. There is a charge for portrait remakes. And remember, using any color or dye will change the way your hair looks in a photograph.

A special note to the guys .... unless you wear a beard all the time.... please remember to shave.... carefully. "Stubble" can only be removed with digital computer retouching, and is an added expense to you.

Now let's discuss clothing.
We realize you want to look stylish (we want that too), but some styles will detract from your appearance, make you look heavier, or draw attention to clothing. Some things to AVOID are:

You may be wondering why we talk about clothing selections. All of the things mentioned will draw attention to your clothing, and away from your face and expression. And, those types of patterns and designs will create the illusion of being heavier.

And while we are on the subject of what makes a person look heavier, here are some more very important items to consider. In other words.. what will make a person appear heavier in a portrait.

MORE THINGS TO AVOID

A special note to the ladies about sleeveless blouses.
Posing a young lady in a sleeveless blouse is very difficult. UNLIKE photos that have been made for your yearbook (up until now) your pose will NOT be just a pose where you just sit down, face the camera, smile, and then it is over. We will make several poses of you.

If you have on a sleeveless blouse, it is almost impossible to move your arm back or forward in a comfortable (and proper) position without your bra strap showing. And, once again let me mention the fact that anyone's upper arm will look larger than it actually is.... if it is bare! Why? Because your shoulder is usually nearer the camera than your face.

What looks best in portraits?

...and here is the main reason for this suggestion. Usually your eye will go directly to the logo, and not to your face.. and that is the most important item in your senior portrait.... your expression... but that has already been mentioned, hasn't it?

On the other hand, if twenty years from now, you want to still be an advertisement for.....

Uncle Red's BBQ House, that is up to you.

MORE TIPS.......
The good old summertime, is when most seniors have their portraits made, but are also in the sun a lot. Sunburn on the face, and tan lines (on girl's shoulders) cannot be retouched from your portraits without additional charge.
It is to your advantage to schedule your portraits before your big weekend at the lake. If you do make an unexpected trip and get burned... just call and reschedule. That is so much better than showing up and then deciding to reschedule at the last minute.

..... what else to bring.
Since our most popular SENIOR portrait sessions consists of at least two casual clothing choices, in addition to your yearbook (tux or drape), you might want to consider one very casual outfit, and one a little more dressy, as opposed to two almost alike.
Naturally we offer portrait sessions with up to five clothing selections.

Some other choices might include:

§ Letter Jacket § Cheerleader Uniform § Sports Uniform §
We encourage you to bring something to personalize your portrait,
... a favorite souvenir, an item from one of your special collections
an award you have earned ... you get the idea.

Also, you might want to bring...
(this list is easy for the men)..... comb

... for the ladies the list is a wee bit longer.......
comb and brush, hair spray, makeup, jewelry.
